Ariel= Vocals+Icon For Hire

This was a newspaper shoot at the Hub in New Lenox IL, with Loftland and Icon For Hire. Great bands and what a venue, they have quite a set up with Tv’s everywhere and a big stage with a lot of high quality equipment.

This shot of Ariel the vocals for Icon for Hire with a little back light tossed on her. I did not plan on back lighting so I did not bring my remotes for my slave flash. So I pulled out the good old trusty Nikon D80 and used the OCF (on camera flash) in commander mode to control the Sb800 behind Ariel.

I set my Sb800 flash to manual mode and set it at 1/8th power.

That is how I put that white line bordering Ariel I love this effect in the hair the most. I hope to show everybody more of my back light skills, if you have any questions how this is done please contact me.

This shot was ment to be the same concept as Ariel’s shots but the way I placed my flash blocked the flash from my camera so it wasnt firing. So in the rush of a concert I just stopped using flash and grabbed some ambiant light photos. As long as you control over your focus you can get some cool shots like this with his hair in a motion blur.
